United HealthCare highly suspicious of proposed sale of The Villages Health – Villages-News.com

United HealthCare has some harsh words for The Villages in a court filing related to The Villages Health bankruptcy.
United HealthCare, which had enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship with The Villages Health, is now objecting to its possible sale to Humana’s CenterWell.
United HealthCare underwrites Medicare Advantage plans for The Villages Health patients and through an agreement sells those plans with the exclusive right to use The Villages’ branding and logo. United HealthCare also owns “a perpetual exclusive license to use certain of Villages Holding’s intellectual property.” The relationship between United HealthCare and The Villages dates back to 2013.  As part of the special arrangement, United HealthCare also enjoyed a “perpetual, exclusive marketing arrangement” with an affiliate of The Villages. United HealthCare notes that it “prepaid for these exclusive marketing rights.”
United HealthCare admits it was caught off guard when The Villages Health on July 3 announced it had filed for bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11.
In a court document filed this week, United HealthCare alleges that The Villages Health had a “record of corporate misbehavior” and points out that The Villages Health “admitted to the submission of incorrect information to its health insurance companies.” The U.S. government has stated that it is owed $361 million due to erroneous Medicare billing by The Villages Health. The over billing of Medicare and the money now owed to the government is at the heart of the bankruptcy filing.
United HealthCare explains in its filing that The Villages Health “is owned and controlled by the same individuals that own and control The Villages, an intertwined business that literally surrounds (The Villages Health.)”
United HealthCare claims that it has been left out of the bankruptcy and potential sale discussion even though United HealthCare “believes it may be the largest non-government creditor of the Debtor.” United Healthcare also suggests that it was “remarkable” that the company was left out of the discussion and suggests that, “Something unusual must have caused this total absence of communication.”
At the heart of the filing, United HealthCare questions the quickie sale of The Villages Health to Humana’s CenterWell. United HealthCare argues that The Villages Health “decided to file for Chapter 11 and sells its business as quickly as possible.”
United HealthCare offers a theory as to the false sense of urgency for the sale of The Villages Health.
“The Debtor is a closely-held family-owned company whose officers, directors and owners face hundreds of millions of dollars of liability for submitting false information to its health insurance companies,” United HealthCare said.

Sinner reunites with former fitness coach dropped after doping scandal – WION

World number 1 Sinner was found in breach of having banned substance – in this case Clostebol – in his body. The Italian, however, was was cleared of fault or negligence by an independent tribunal which accepted that the substance entered his body inadvertently.
Wimbledon 2025 men’s singles winner Jannik Sinner has re-appointed Umberto Ferrara as fitness coach nearly one year after parting ways after being accused of doping – which eventually got him banned for three months. Along with Ferrara, Sinner also had parted way with physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi. Sinner had served a three-month ban earlier this year from February and returned to action in May – just before French Open 2025. Sinner lost the final at Roland Garros against Carlos Alcaraz but won the Wimbledon earlier this month against the same opponent. The Italian reunited with Ferrara after removing current fitness coach Marco Panichi and physiotherapist Ulises Badio.

“The decision has been made in alignment with Jannik’s management team as part of ongoing preparations for upcoming tournaments, including the Cincinnati Open and U.S. Open,” Sinner’s team said in a statement. “Umberto has played an important role in Jannik’s development to date, and his return reflects a renewed focus on continuity and performance at the highest level.”
World number 1 Sinner was found in breach of having banned substance – in this case Clostebol – in his body. The Italian, however, was was cleared of fault or negligence by an independent tribunal which accepted that the substance entered his body inadvertently.
As per Sinner’s explanation, Clostebol entered his body after Naldi used it on a cut on his won hand before giving treatment to Sinner. The over-the-counter substance, which can help build muscle mass, was supplied to Naldi by Ferrara. Sinner ended his partnership with the duo as he was “not feeling that confident to continue with them.”
Sinner’s ban had come after World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) reached an agreement with parties involved after an appeal to Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS) against independent tribunal’s decision to clear him any wrongdoing.

The police have nabbed three people who are confirmed to be party supporters at a polling booth in Adewale street, Ward 5, unit 17 Alekuwodo, in Osogbo Local Government Area, for allegedly being in possession of charms and PVCs belonging to other polling units.
The affected persons, a woman and two middle-aged men were first apprehended by party agents, who claimed the individuals were not registered voters in the unit.
Security operatives later intervened and whisked them away, which brought the situation under control.
Also, the police have also arrested some supporters of a particular political party in the state for possessing assorted charms and Indian hemp at a polling unit in Osogbo.
In the same vein, the Police Public Relations Officer in Osun, SP Folashade Odoro in a press statement signed and made available to newsmen said 16 persons who were in possession of illegal customised INEC observer’s tags, faze caps, and jackets were arrested.
According to Odoro ” The Nigeria Police Force is committed to discharging its responsibilities of ensuring the peaceful conclusion of Osun 2018 Gubernatorial Election, that was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in which Thursday 27th September 2018 was fixed for the re-run in the Seven (7) Polling units.

Osun rerun: collation of results begins
Thursday’s rerun election in some areas in Osun State is gradually coming to an end as collation of results has commenced.
As at press time, results are being gathered and announced in different polling units and collation centers in the state.
The supplementary election is between the candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
PDP’s Ademola Adeleke and APC’s Gboyega Oyintola are in the race to take over from incumbent Governor, Rauf Aregbesola.
DAILY POST reported that Ademola Adeleke of the PDP led the race in last Saturday’s election with 254,698 votes, 353 votes more than Oyetola.
The margin was, however, less than the 3,498 votes in the polling units where votes were cancelled.
Consequently, the Returning Officer for the election, Professor Joseph Afuape, declared the poll inconclusive.

Osun rerun: Sporadic shootings, vote buying mar election
As electorate throng the four local governments of Osogbo, Orolu, Ife North and Ife South to participate in the rerun election slated for Thursday, sporadic shootings and vote buying have obviously marred the process.
At ward 5, unit 17, Alekuwodo, Osogbo, many of the voters were chased away by hoodlums suspected to be working for a political party as they continued to shoot sporadically.
The intervention of military personnel eventually calmed the tensed atmosphere and normalcy was restored.
Also, many of the voters at Orolu were prevented by political thugs from assessing the three polling units in the local government.
The police eventually called for more reinforcement to ameliorate the situation and doused tension.
Meanwhile, The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), agent was noticeably missing at Adereti Village, Ward 7, Unit 12, in Ife South local government, as vote buying and selling visibly dominated the voting environment.
An official of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), Mr Stephen Oyewande, who is the deputy director, Voters Education, when asked why PDP was missing, said: “Call the state chairman of the party why his party agent is not here. I can’t explain why he is not here.”
However, Lateef Abimbola of All Progressives Congress (APC), Olaiya Yemi of All Peoples Alliance, (APA), Rasheed Mojeed of Advance Congress of Democrat, (ADC), Adeyemo Gafar of Action Democratic Party, (ADP) and Bayo Shittu of Social Democratic Party (SDP), were present at the polling centre.
Also, some serving Commissioners and Special Advisers of Osun state government were sighted in the polling centre.
Security around the polling unit was water-tight, even as Ife/Ondo road was partially blocked to traffic.
Though they were later allowed to move, many commuters, especially those moving towards Ondo end of Ife/Ondo road, were stranded for some hours owing to roadblock mounted by the soldiers on election duty.
Speaking to newsmen, Supervisory Presiding Officer, Femi Kuku, said the exercise was going on well without hitch.
However, an unconfirmed report has it that PDP agent, as well as some supporters of the party, were chased out the polling unit.
2:06 pm
Osun rerun: PDP agent declared missing
There was a slight drama at the Ward 7, Unit 12 Polling Unit in Adereti village, Ife South Local Government Area, as a PDP agent in the ongoing governorship rerun election in Osun was missing on duty.
INEC Deputy Director, Voters Education, Stephen Oyewande told NAN that he could not explain why the PDP agent was not on duty at the polling unit.
Oyewande told newsmen to ask PDP leaders on the whereabouts of the missing party agent.
“ Call the state chairman of the party and ask him why his party agent is not here. I can’t explain why he is not here,’’ he said.
There was tight security at the polling unit as voters were prevented from bringing their smartphones close to the polling units.
Present at the polling unit were Lateef Abimbola of All Progressives Congress, Olaiya Yemi of All Peoples Alliance and Rasheed Mojeed of Advance Congress of Democrats.
Also present were Adeyemo Gafar of Action Democratic Party and Bayo Shittu of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
1:54 pm
Osun rerun: Police, INEC speak on vote-buying
Bello Ahmed, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police in charge of the Osun governorship re-run election in Olede in Ife South Local Government, has said that security agents were monitoring the issue of vote-buying.
Ahmed, while speaking with newsmen at Adereti polling Unit 12, ward 7 in Olode on Thursday, said that anyone caught buying votes would be arrested.
He, however, said that the election had been peaceful, adding that voters were behaving maturely.
”We are law-abiding and we obey the rule of law but anyone who perpetrates crime will be arrested.
“But so far, so good; the election is going on smoothly,” Ahmed said.
Also speaking, Mr Stephen Ojewande, Deputy Director of Voter Education and Publicity, INEC, said nobody was allowed to come to the polling unit with smartphones.
Ojewande said people with smartphones were restricted 300 metres away from the polling units.
“We ensure that nobody comes to the polling unit with smartphones.
“We also ensure that people with smartphones are chased 300 metres away from the polling unit,” he said.
Ojewande also said that voting would end by 2 p.m., adding that the last person on the queue would be attended to.

Osun rerun: INEC speaks on ‘arrest of electoral observers, journalists’
The Independent National Electoral Commission has spoken on the alleged arrest of some electoral observers at polling units in Osun state as voting is currently in progress.
The electoral umpire assured electorates that it will address the issues of pressmen and electoral observers allegedly being arrested and prevented from operating in polling units by security agents.
In a post on its verified Twitter handle, @inecnigeria, the electoral umpire wrote: “INEC is disturbed about reports that accredited media and observers are being arrested or prevented from operating in some polling units. This is being taken up with the security agencies.”
Meanwhile, the rerun election is being held at seven polling units located in Orolu, Osogbo, Ife North and Ife South council areas.
Osun rerun: REC official warns electorate, party agents against snatching of ballot boxes
Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner, Olusegun Agbaje, has warned electorates and party agents against snatching of ballot boxes during the state re-run election.
Agbaje said anyone caught in the act will be in danger even as he assured the electorate of adequate security as voting process commences.
Agbaje gave the assurance when he visited the polling unit at Ward 5, Unit 17, on Adewale Street, Alekuwodo Area in Osogbo.
He said INEC and the ad hoc staff were ready to conduct the election and that “the deployment of heavy security is an assurance that nobody or individuals can disrupt the process.
“INEC staff and ad hoc staff are prepared for the election and we have heavy security presence which will guarantee the safety of everyone.
“Anybody coming to snatch ballot boxes is putting his or life in danger.
“Party agents should conduct themselves in an orderly manner, while the electorate should remain peaceful.”
Agbaje equally charged corps members serving at polling units to take their time and make sure they verify voter cards very well before they allow them to vote.
He said “Election should close by exactly 2 p.m. because of the limited units and voters”, saying he is optimistic the election would run smoothly.
Osun election: PDP raises alarm as security agencies bar journalists, observers
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday raised the alarm over the decision of security agencies of stopping journalists and accredited observers from participating in today’s rerun.
PDP’s spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan made the allegation via his Twitter handle.
Ologbondiyan also claimed that the All Progressives Congress, APC, was plotting to use security to intimidate voters.
He tweeted, “@OfficialPDPNig condemns the stoppage of journalists and observers accredited to monitor the supplementary election in Osun by security agents.
“@OfficialAPCNg’s plot to use security agents to intimidate voters, journalists, observers and rig the election is unacceptable.”
Osun rerun: Davido cries out over military interference in election
As the Osun State governorship rerun election takes off, popular Nigerian singer, Davido, on Thursday disclosed what military officers are doing in Orolu polling unit.
The award-winning singer disclosed that military officers have sealed off the polling unit, and that voters can’t perform their civic rights.
Davido, who is a niece to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke made the disclosure via his Twitter handle.
He wrote: According to information just received at 8:06am the military has sealed off a polling unit in Orolu and refusing voters from entering the place. International observers should please take note. @USEmbassyAbuja, @inecnigeria, @IsiakaAdeleke1
@OfficialPDPNig.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had on Saturday rescheduled the keenly contested governorship election to today.
Osun election: Adeleke cries out, reveals what is happening in state right now
The Governorship candidate under the flagship of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has described the ongoing rerun election in seven units in the state as a ‘coup.‘
Adeleke, who spoke with Punch on Thursday said that supporters of the PDP were being denied access to ballot papers in the governorship rerun election.
“What is happening in Osun State now is not an election. What we have is a coup. That is what we are witnessing now.
“Our supporters are being harassed and are not allowed to vote at all. Let the whole world know that this is not democracy, ” he said.
DAILY POST had earlier reported that Ademola Adeleke of the PDP led the race in last Saturday’s election with 254,698 votes, 353 votes more than Oyetola.
The margin was, however, less than the 3,498 votes in the polling units where votes were cancelled.
Consequently, the Returning Officer for the election, Professor Joseph Afuape, declared the poll inconclusive.
Today, voters will storm some polling units in Orolu, Ife South, Ife North and Osogbo LGAs of Osun State to determine who will lead the state for another four years.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had ordered for a rerun after it declared the last Saturday’s governorship election inconclusive.
According to the Returning Officer, Joseph Fuwape, Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, polled about 254,698 ahead of Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who garnered 254,345 votes.
Afuwape said since the number of cancelled votes, 3,498, exceeded the difference between the two leading parties (353), no winner could be declared, hence his decision to declare the election inconclusive.
Today, the political destiny of the state is in the hand of the people of Olode, in Ife South Local Government, Orolu, Alekuwodo in Osogbo, Oyere, in Ife South and others.
In a couple of hours, the people of the state will know who will be their governor between a federal government backed-Gboyega Oyetola or David Adeleke, aka, Davido-backed Ademola Adeleke.
DAILY POST would bring you live update from the election.

The Federal Government has released the 2025 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) results for admission into Junior Secondary School (JSS 1) in the country’s 80 Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs).
It also released the results of the separate entrance examination into the Federal Government Academy (FGA), Suleja.
Speaking at a news conference in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, said it was ‘a moment of fulfilment and progress for basic education in Nigeria’.
The exam, conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO) on June 14, recorded 64,578 registered candidates, with 61,290 sitting and 3,288 absent.
“Out of the maximum obtainable score of 210, 13 candidates obtained the highest score of 202, while 27 candidates obtained the lowest score of 1,” Ahmad said.
She added: “This year, an unprecedented number of 52 candidates (two candidates from Lagos and 50 candidates from Rivers) were involved in examination malpractice”.
On the FGA Suleja exam, she noted that 3,421 candidates registered, 3,141 sat, and 280 were absent, with the highest score being 194 and the lowest, one.
Ahmad reaffirmed that the admission criteria remain 60 per cent merit, 30 per cent equality of states, and 10 per cent exigency.
She directed the Senior Secondary Education Department to ensure that all admissions are concluded promptly and in line with the guidelines.
“It is a common knowledge that our Federal Unity Colleges have become the first port of call for most parents in the country.
“I want to assure all Nigerian parents that government will continue to do her best to improve on infrastructural development, feeding and teacher quality for effective teaching and learning in our colleges,” she said.
The event also featured the formal presentation of the results to the minister by the Registrar of NECO, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
